I don’t feel that it’s far off to propose that consuming a variety of green smoothies can certainly give you virtually everything that your body requires to maintain health. Besides maybe Vitamin D and Vitamin B12, personally I think, these nutritious powerhouses have everything (yes, protein as well). The worst part for me when I started drinking the smoothies were the unhealthy cravings. Learn about how I alleviated them forever.
I’d like to start out by telling you that the information in this article is only my opinion which is based on information I have read regarding health in addition to more than a decade of living and eating the way I have daily. That and my twice a year blood work that reveals zero deficiencies, I believe that this information is very valuable. Perhaps it works just for me, my body type and genetics, I can’t say for certain. However, just like smoking will affect each of us with varying degrees of health negatives, green smoothies, I believe, will affect each of us with varying degrees of health positives. The body is equipped to heal itself correct? Why is it that so many people are becoming and staying sick? Perhaps it is in inaccurate statement that the body is truly designed to heal itself? No! The problem is that people today a) don’t give it with the suitable amount of tools, by way of diet for the most part, it needs to reset itself and b) we bombard our body with junk that hinders the performance of the limited tools that we do supply it.
I’m a huge admirer of the raw food diet. The suggestion that adding heat to foods over a specific temperature destroying required enzymes that are important for digestion makes plenty of sense to me. Beyond that, it is suggested that to get the most out of our foods we should chew it until it disappears. Our body has troubles digesting big chunks of food. Also, I strongly believe that we can survive off of a diet of chiefly fruits and green vegetables, with of course some healthy fats. For the healthy fats, avocados, soaked nuts and seeds is all I consume.
The main foods I have every single day are comprised of sufficient amounts of raw fruits and green veggies in the form of green smoothies. Being that they are in a liquid state, my body is able to assimilate the nutrients without a problem.
A giant hurdle for most people when switching diets, and a huge one for me is handling unhealthy cravings. Just like a person addicted to drugs or alcohol must go through a detox in an effort to heal, we essentially must to do a similar thing. The cells in our body consist of stuff from foods that we have consumed in the past. The body generally craves much of the same unhealthy foods that contribute to the contents of the individual cells in our bodies. For drug detoxes, often times, dry sauna therapy is used to sweat the drugs out of the system. That generally helps eliminate the physical cravings which will allow the person an improved chance at sobriety. For us, adjusting our eating habits will probably trigger the elimination of toxic foods as well which can be quickly removed in our poop, sweat and perhaps urine. However, we still might having cravings for those foods while some of the contaminants in our cells are still present.
I find that instantly after having the first swallow of my green smoothie my cravings for grease, meat, salt, etc began to subside. After I was finished drinking the smoothie, the unhealthy cravings passed completely and I would be fulfilled. The problem then was that the unhealthy cravings would come again as I became hungry. So I started to make certain I was on top of it and would have another smoothie ready before the cravings would come back, or not too long after they reared their ugly heads. The unhealthy cravings eventually subsided for good as I became healthier. After that I started to crave greens instead!
