There are a lot of people who need support groups for their diseases or conditions. The focus of these support groups is to ensure a feeling of acceptance and compensating for feelings of being alone in the suffering.
Support groups can be groups that are met online and regular email exchanges can be done with question and answers as the main service. They could also get to know other people who are suffering exactly the same thing and once a ‘friend’ is found, the outpouring of concerns and fears and feelings of helplessness are alleviated.
Sufferers of Leaky Gut Syndrome have their own support group as well. The LeakyGut Support Group not only helps others through their concerns but is there to give alternatives in curing LGS. They are there to teach the sufferer what to eat in an LGS diet, how to cure themselves, how to cleanse their bodies and others alternatives as well. They are not there to give lectures, they are there as a help system to show other leaky gut sufferers that there are others out there with Leaky Gut Syndrome, that it is more common than originally thought, and that there is a way to combat it with the right Leaky Gut Syndrome treatment Support groups are great for individuals who get tired of the ‘sorry’ looks they receive from friends and families who do not know anything about the syndrome. Some even complain that they were ridiculed and accused of making up stories to make excuses.
It is a natural reaction of people to get suspicious of another if they feel threatened or just want to put one over the other. Unfortunate as it may sound this nasty cruelty on a suffering individual is very common however it is also inexcusable.
The LGS support group will help the sufferer get over these difficulties by giving the right direction on which to work out their physical problems. In the end, the members themselves are the ones who help one another through their testimonials. If you have LGS, it does not hurt to be one with a support group, it can only help ease your worries and open doors for recovery.

Hi Ive been diagnosed with Leaky gut syndrome but not coping with the treatment as I have other issues with major food intolerances so the diet I am on is very limited to the point where it is making me sicker. Was wondering wether anyone else out there has this problem. I am fructose intolerant, allergic to garlics, onions and families, cant tolerate beans or soy and some dairy upsets me. This narrows my food choices and I cant function on the restricted diet. I feel alone as no one gets it even the so called experts. Please help. Thank you.
Kerry,
I’ve been struggling for over a year with candidiasis and more recently diagnosed leaky gut syndrome. For the past six months I’ve basically been eating lettuce, okra, olive oil and chicken for all of my meals (and I still get bad reactions!). To top it all off my progress has completely come to halt despite the unbelievable effort and money that I’m pouring into my treatment. I don’t know how much support I can offer you, as I still find myself crying and feeling completely lost and frustrated. All I can say, is at least you have an idea of the source of the problem. I can guarantee that the road to wellness will be LONG. Just get that into your head now and it’ll help down the road, believe me.
As far as getting used to the diet, it took me a few months to change my habits. In the beginning I would binge on salad, oil, chicken etc. and feel terrible b/c it was overloading my digestive system. I find now that if I overeat anything I’ll feel crappy. I just think that when I overeat or eat things that aren’t on the diet, that I’m only setting myself back and wasting money. There’s no food on earth I’d want to eat rather than get better. Just keep trying and you’ll find your way. Also, you can’t change habits over night, so don’t be hard on yourself if you mess up. Just recognize what happened and promise yourself that you’ll do better next time.
Believe me, I understand how totally frustrating it can be. No one you know understands what it’s like. To give up all of the foods (and activities) you enjoy…and still not be feeling too great. I know I just feel totally trapped sometimes. Just remember, small steps and changes are key. That will help you from being overwhelmed. Also, if you starve yourself your body’s going to go into fight or flight and won’t be able to heal. You may have to have some non-diet foods to keep your strength up in the beginning. Just do your homework and choose the ‘least bad’ option.
Also, hopefully some of your food allergies are related to the inflamed stomach lining and will go away once you have the leaky gut under control. Have you ruled out yeast or bactierial overgrowths? I know that I was told that the LGS won’t heal until I restore a healthy balance of yeast and bacteria in my gut.
Good luck Kerry.
Hi, I am mother in Brisbane who has a daughter (30ish) who lives between Perth (for work) and Brisbane. She has had digestive problems for about 7 years especially with bloating and constipation. She has been to a doctor in America and a Digestive Clinic in Sydney, tried umpteen different diets etc. It appears that she may have leaky gut, but nothing makes a difference. Has anyone out there been through the same thing or offer a solution that has worked for them? She has reached a state of depression and I am very worried, hence the letter. Is there a face to face group in Perth or is anyone willing to divulge their phone number?
